NEW YORK CITY – The world’s oldest man has passed away.

Alex Imich of New York City died Sunday morning at the age of 111.

How about a quick history lesson on him.

Imich was born in 1903 in Poland, and fled the country with his wife after the Nazis invaded in 1939. They eventually made it to the U.S. in the 1950’s and while he is the world’s oldest man, he isn’t the oldest person.

66 women outranked him, including a Japanese woman who’s 116!

His great sense of humor must have helped him live the long life; when asked how he got to be the oldest living man, he said, “I guess because I didn’t die earlier!”

Imich pointed to his healthy diet, no alcohol and years of exercise too. He also said not having kids most likely helped too. Yeah, that cuts off years of worry!
