FAIRFIELD, CT – It sounded like an innocent plea for help. One woman in Fairfield, Connecticut thought she heard a young child crying “daddy, daddy” over and over again.

But after an unsuccessful search on street level — she looked up and finally found who was calling for help.

The cries weren’t coming from a child at all. It was only Ralphie — a parrot.

The talking bird was perched on a 25-foot tree near a school.

Turns out, Ralphie was reported missing from his home, which was about a mile away.

The woman called animal control, but Ralphie was too high to reach.

So firefighters had to come help them capture the bird.

Thankfully, Ralphie and his daddy were reunited.

And no, his pop is not a pirate!
