Firefighter put on administrative duty for offensive online post

HOUSTON, TX – A Houston firefighter is in the hot seat, and it all sparked from an offensive post on social media.

35-year-old Kerry Williams was sent out with his firefighting team to help search for a 47-year-old man who drowned in Lake Houston on Saturday.

Williams is accused of posting on his Facebook page that he was looking for a “drunk Mexican.”

Now, he’s been relieved of duty – with pay – and transferred to an administrative position while the department investigates.

HFD released a statement saying “comments like these are not a reflection of the nearly 4000 men and women of the HFD who perform their jobs everyday with courage and compassion.”

Yea we get that; but this is also a reminder that it only takes one ember to start a fire… ya dig?
