BARTONVILLE, IL – Many people view their phone as a lifeline and will do almost anything to save it.
But for one Illinois woman, phone obsession led to death.
Fire crews were called to a Bartonville, Ill., home with a report of someone trapped inside.
A firefighter tried to rescue the woman, but had to turn back because of heavy smoke.
Turns out the woman had actually escaped the fire when it started, but turned around and went back into the house to retrieve her phone.
That’s right, she ran into a burning building for a cell phone.
The woman was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The worst part of this tragedy? It was entirely avoidable.
You could say she really made a bad call.
