Houston Dynamo face Sporting Kansas City on the road

KANSAS CITY, MO –  The Houston Dynamo meet Sporting Kansas City at 7 p.m. CT tonight, August 29,  in a matchup of Eastern Conference rivals at Sporting Park in Kansas City.

The Dynamo are 7-13-4 (25 points) and in ninth place in the Eastern Conference. Houston fell to the Columbus Crew, 3-0, on Saturday at Crew Stadium. Sporting KC is 12-7-6 (42 points) and in second place in the East after a 3-0 home loss to D.C. United on Saturday. The Dynamo and Sporting Kansas City have met in the playoffs in three straight seasons.

After the Dynamo eliminated Sporting KC in 2011 and 2012, Sporting KC defeated Houston in the 2013 Eastern Conference Championship, 2-1 on aggregate, to advance to MLS Cup. Sporting KC beat the Dynamo, 2-0, in the first meeting this year, June 6 at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Tonight’s game continues a stretch of 12 consecutive games against Eastern Conference foes to complete the regular season. Following tonight, the Dynamo will have nine games remaining in the regular season.

Sporting KC is led by U.S. national team defender Matt Besler and midfielder Graham Zusi, who both played at the 2014 World Cup. Up front, Dom Dwyer leads Sporting Kansas City with a career-high 14 goals this season.

Following tonight’s game, the Dynamo host the Montreal Impact on Saturday, Sept. 6 at BBVA Compass Stadium.
