ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KTVI)–  A mother is dead after shoving her daughter out of the way of an SUV outside a Walgreens in south St. Louis on Monday night September 22.

The accident occurred just after 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the Walgreens at Holly Hills and Gravois.

Firefighters at the scene say a woman in her 30’s drove an SUV up on the sidewalk.

Officials have not said why the SUV drove up on the sidewalk, but eyewitnesses suggest she may have pushed the brake pedal when she intended to push the gas pedal.

The victim, a mother in her mid-30’s, and her 10-year-old girl were walking out of the store when the woman saw the SUV and pushed her daughter out of the way.

The woman was struck by the SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene. The girl, her daughter, was unharmed.

The woman in the SUV was treated by paramedics on the scene.
