OTTAWA, Canada — A “lone gunman” is dead following gunfire at the Canadian Parliament area but “dozens” of shots were fired inside the main Parliament building in Ottawa Wednesday morning, before 10 a.m. ET, after the gunman entered a main door, Ottawa journalist Josh Wingrove told CNN.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported that a soldier was shot.

The main Parliament building is locked down. Wingrove said he saw someone injured — he described it as a motionless “body” — in the main building, near the entrance to the Parliament library, following gunfire.
