HOUSTON, Texas - According to September data from the U.S. Census Bureau, both metro Houston and California have authorized the construction of nearly 30,000 homes.  People are moving in!  So, turn on the oven and start baking cookies for your new neighbors.

"The Houston real estate market is so hot," said Jan Pappert from John Daugherty Realtors. "Many people are wanting to move to Houston because it's very affordable, culturally diverse and it's a great place to live."

If you look up to the sky, then you'll see dozens of new high-rises currently in development.  There are 14 currently under construction and 39 planned projects downtown, valued at more than 4 billion dollars.

From August 2013 to August 2014, Houston added 10,900 construction jobs to its market, more than any other major metro area in the country.  So, the Bayou City is on fire.  Our sprawl might be not as pretty as San Francisco, but let's face it: here in Texas, the American Dream is bigger and cheaper.
