BERRIEN SPRINGS, Mi. (CNN) - Four people were hospitalized after a plane crashed into the backyard of a house in rural southwest Michigan.
It happened in Berrien Springs, just north of South Bend, Indiana.
Police say the three passengers managed to get out on their own, but the pilot was still trapped in the wreckage.
He was pulled to safety and rushed to a hospital along with the passengers.
No one on the ground was hurt and there was no damage to the house, though the plane landed just a few feet away.
Passengers told authorities the plane's engine failed sometime after they took off from an airport in Indiana.
