HOUSTON, Texas - Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis is IN the building.

He’s a 3-year-old Chihuahua-mix whose “ruff life” includes an injury to his face and eye. “Unfortunately, the eye was not salvageable but we have removed the eye and cleaned up his wounds and he’s got- as you can see, quite a bit of sutures. He’s pretty early on in the healing process” explains Houston SPCA veterinarian, Dr. Denise Katz.

Now we’re not making fun of his injury but you can see why they named him Elvis- although he looks a little like Billy Idol or Jack Nicholson’s Joker, right.

“A dog who has one eye does just as well as a dog who has two eyes. He’s not going to have any difficulties. The only difference between him and another dog is going to be his permanent smile- which who could hate that” says Lisa Rotter of the Houston SPCA.

Believe it or not, Elvis is such a charmer, you forget about his looks. “Just like any Chihuahua he’s going to do well with a lot of people to love on him. He’s cuddly, he’s friendly, he’s real playful. He doesn’t necessarily need a big backyard but he’ll need lots of walks and lots of attention” says Rotter.

Elvis is available for adoption and he can go home today. He does have heart worms but that doesn’t mean he can’t go home with his "fur-ever" family. The heart worm treatment is done in your own home and the Houston SPCA pays for it.
