Margaret Mayer sentenced to 15 years for failing to stop and render aid in cyclist’s death

HOUSTON, Texas  – Margaret Mayer has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after faiing to stop and render aid in a cyclist’s death last year. Mayer had been found guilty on Wednesday of the crime. She had been facing a maximum of 20 years in prison.

The 35-year-old was charged with failing to stop and render aid in the death of 24-year-old cyclist Chelsea Norman last year.

On Sunday night, the cycling community gathered outside of Whole Foods on Waugh, where Norman used to work, to show support. Norman was struck on her bike after having left work, and left to die in the street.
