HOUSTON, Tx. - Memorial High School swimmer Alexandra Buscher says her sport is all about managing time.  Between her school work and time in the pool, not much time is left over.

"I hang out with friends, we go to the movies. I read.  I really focus on academics, then swimming. Whatever time I have left, I go for social," Buscher said.

The senior is headed to Texas A&M next year on a swimming scholarship.  It's just part of a journey that's taken her to competitions across the globe, including stops in Australia, Germany, Spain and Canada.

"I enjoy swimming for the ride it's given me, the opportunities I've been able to have. For me, it's more about the ride up as to where the top leads," Buscher said.

Buscher holds Memorial's record in the 100, 200, and 500-meter freestyle events. While she's very focused, Buscher tries to keep it all in perspective.

"It's not all serious. It's important to embrace the present now and trying your hardest while having fun to the maximum reaches everything."

Sounds like this Class Act is teaching us all a valuable lesson.
