Helicopter crashes in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- A helicopter crashed in a residential area in Conroe, Texas on Friday afternoon leaving the pilot dead and residents shaken.

Karen King lives near the crash and she says, "I didn't see anything, but I heard a loud crash and then there were a lot of helicopters circulating, and so then I thought it was Life Flight, and then I just started praying because I knew it had to be bad."

DPS PIO, Trooper Eric Burse says their department received a call about a helicopter crash at 12:23pm. There was only one person aboard the helicopter and was confirmed dead on arrival. The Federal Aviation Administration is handling the investigation to determine what may have caused the crash to occur. The name of the pilot has yet to be released as well.

Residents around the crash were flustered and just thankful that the crash did not happen into someone's home.
