HOUSTON, Texas -- Micah Simmons has been doing art at Winter Studios for the past nine years. What's amazing is he was once legally blind and didn't get the opportunity to see well, but when he started painting he says his artwork made him feel like he could see.

"Most of my work is painted to music, sometimes in front of an audience. Many times I start with an idea, but the music leads the piece to the final outcome. If I’m painting for an audience, I absorb its energy, and that is also evident in my work."

Simmons loves performing for live audiences and is looking forward to performing at Artopia in Houston on January 24.
