BELLAIRE, TX - Evian Benjamin has lofty goals for his senior season at Episcopal High School.  First and foremost, it's about returning the Knights to the top of the Southwest Preparatory Conference.

"Last year, I hit over .400 and I want to hit over .400 again this year," Benjamin said in reference to his batting average.

As the lead-off hitter for the Knights, Benjamin is focused on getting on base. In a sport measured by numbers and statistics, it's not surprising the center fielder favors math and science in the classroom.

Benjamin is set to play baseball at Sam Houston State next year.  A goal he wanted to accomplish for his mom, Nicole.

"She's a single mom, works hard. She also went to school while she had me. She just went to school last semester, too. She's provided me with emotional support, physical support. I just look up to her," Benjamin said.

Benjamin was, also, part of the Astros Urban Youth Academy. He's one of the first two academy participants to sign a college scholarship.
