HOUSTON, TX- The number of gang members across the nation may shock you. According to a new joint study by Sam Houston State University and Arizona State University, there's more than one million gang members 17-years-old and younger in the U.S.

That total is more than three times what law enforcement across the country had estimated. In Texas, there's an estimated 100,000 active gang members, with over 20,000 of them in Houston.

A startling reminder to pay attention to your surrounding and be proactive about reporting gang activity, even if it's anonymous.
