NORTHWEST HARRIS COUNTY, TX - It was a scary situation on Friday morning. A school bus on Veterans Memorial and Frick Road in northwest Harris County got hit by a truck. The impact knocked the bus over and into a ditch.

The bus belonged to Aldine Independent School District. Four special need students and two adults, including the bus driver, were on board. They weren't seriously hurt, but were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Officials say before emergency crews even arrived to the scene, bystanders jumped in to help. By the time crews got to the scene, the students were already safely off the bus.

The driver of the truck fled, but authorities were able to track him down because his license plate fell off during the accident.
