HOUSTON, TX - A couple's argument in a car led to the husband's death and the wife's trip to the hospital early Friday morning.

Investigators say the married couple had recently moved to Houston from Michigan. They were on their way back their hotel around 1:45 a.m. Friday when the wife told investigators the two got in an argument. As the SUV traveled along the Eastex Freeway near Persimmon, it swerved off the freeway, rolled across the feeder road and landed on its side.

"They had some kind of disagreement in the vehicle and the male may have grabbed the steering wheel and forced her to lose control," said HPD Sgt. JD Rossman.

The husband wasn't wearing a seat belt, so he was ejected when the SUV rolled. He later died at the hospital. His wife was also injured and taken to the hospital, though she's in stable condition.

Officers say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
