HARRIS COUNTY, TX - An east Harris County man says he got a rude awakening on Tuesday when several men kicked down his door.

Around 4 a.m., the victim says he was sleeping near the front door of his home in the 14100 block of Merry Meadow Dr. when two or three men busted in and opened fire. He shot back and the suspects ran back outside.

"He exited the residence as they were getting in their vehicle and fleeing the scene. They exchanged more gunfire out here in the street," said Harris County Cpl. William Bearden.

The men got away in a small, dark-colored sedan. Deputies say no one was hurt in the shooting, though the home does have a few bullet holes as a result.
