It may sound like an April Fool's joke, but it's not: the Beard Cap is real and it's fabulous. Virgin Trains decided to start work on it after research revealed 1 in 10 men blamed their beards for their slower swim times. The company expects its beard caps to be a hit, especially since facial hair is back in vogue.

The Beard Cap is like a swimming cap, but with a chin strap. It’s billed as being "reusable, adjustable and perfect for keeping bushy beards under control.”

Wondering why you haven’t seen this marine miracle in action? The prototype will be tested during the Great North Swim in England’s Lake Windermere on June 12.
