Graduation is over for Klein Forest High School seniors and most of them are starting their new lives -- but one senior, Omar Rodas never got that chance.

"Thursday on the last day, we had our graduation rehearsal," says Ramsey Gonzales, a friend of Rodas since the 6th grade.  "I saw him there and that was the last time I saw him."

Rodas was killed in a car accident on I-45 Saturday, on his way to the ceremony.

"He was a great person," says Gonzales. "Good, energetic, always talking about soccer."

Omar's friends didn't know about the tragedy right away. When his name was called and he didn't walk across the stage other graduates noticed that he was missing but some had already heard that their classmate was gone.

"I had already heard the news through social networking that Omar had passed but I didn't believe it until it was confirmed," says Gonzales.

Mourners have begun a makeshift memorial to Omar at the school, leaving flowers, handwritten notes and balloons. A GoFundMe account has been set up by students, parents and friends to cover funeral costs.

With the outpouring of support for Rodas, it's pretty clear he made a big impact during his short life.
