HOUSTON, TX - Houston Police are trying to figure out what caused a deadly overnight crash on the Eastex Freeway.

After 11 p.m. Monday, officers say the 65-year-old driver was headed south when his car rolled onto the feeder road. When emergency crews got to the scene, they pronounced him dead. They say alcohol was likely not a factor.

"It doesn't appear that speed is a factor in the accident," said Sgt. JD Rossman. "It happened close to the exit, but it doesn't appear he missed the exit. It appears he was traveling at normal freeway speed."

Officers suspect the driver may have suffered from a medical issue that caused him to lose consciousness. They'll have to wait for an autopsy for confirmation.
