HOUSTON, TX – The city of Houston and state of Texas are leading the way when it comes to the changing face of American demographics.

The Census Bureau says Texas is one of only four states that is majority minority and the Lone Star State’s makeup closely resembles what researchers project for the entire country by 2060.

“Texas has always had some amount of diversity because of our history. We’re very unique in that we’re not only just a Southern state, we’re also a Western state,” said Michael Cline, Ph.D., of Rice University.

The Census Bureau also says Houston is 10 to 15 years ahead of the rest of the state because there’s so much diversity here that there’s no clear majority.
