HOUSTON - Nuclear war has not destroyed us because of an unlikely ally....aliens! Yes, little green men saved planet earth, according to NASA astronaut, Edgar Mitchell.

Ever since walking on the moon in 1971 as part of the Apollo 14 3-man crew, Mitchell has maintained aliens came to earth to stop a nuclear war between America and Russia. Mitchell claims UFO`s were spotted hovering over the world`s first nuclear weapons test in July of 1945.

This is not the first time Mitchell as mentioned his belief in other life forms. He previously said supposedly real-life ET's were similar to the traditional image of a small frame, large eyes and head. Plus, he claimed our technology is 'not nearly as sophisticated' as theirs and 'had they been hostile', he warned 'we would be been gone by now'.

In 2008, NASA released this statement: 'Dr. Mitchell is a great American, but we do not share his opinions on this issue.'

In other news from outer space....it seems we have company. Astronomers say they found another planet and are calling it 51-Eridani-b. It`s about 100-light years away from us and has twice the mass of Jupiter. Also according to scientists using the Gemini Observatory`s new planet imager, the young planet may be in a solar system similar to ours. They are referring to 51-Eridani-b as a young Jupiter.
