WENATCHEE, WA - Firefighters Richard Wheeler, Tom Zbyszewski and Andrew Zajac tried to outrun the massive blaze that was destroying North-Central Washington state, but the fire overtook their vehicle and they crashed and perished in the blaze.

This past weekend, friends and family gave those men a final farewell.

Mary Zajac, Andrew Zajac's mother says,  "Every moment of Andrew's life is precious to me. To tell you anything about it would require me to tell it all, and that would take almost 27 years."

Walter Eskabar, a family friend of Wheeler added, "Your family is part of crew 74."

More than 2,200 showed up for the memorial service, and more would have shown up but many are still battling the wildfires in Washington. Hopefully no other memorial services will need to be held for fallen firefighters.
