Sgt. Don Plant is a pilot with the Harris County Sheriff's Office, Air Support Unit. He has had a love for flying since childhood.
Now, he flies helicopters and fixed winged aircraft assisting ground units in search of criminals, or missing persons.
There are distinct advantages in using aircraft Plant explains, "From the aerial perspective we have 30 times greater visibility to help locate who we're looking for. Whether it's trying to apprehend a suspect or find a critically missing elderly, or a missing child."
Plant works closely with his tactical flight officer, who takes care of the police aspect of the flight while Plant manages the flight controls.
Being that flying is in his blood, Plant says, "When I retire I hope I'm still doing the same thing, flying."
