NAVASOTA, TX - Shelton Eppler always thought he'd be a baseball player. After all, his brother, Tyler, is currently a pitcher in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.  But once Shelton became the starting quarterback for Navasota High School, football became his top sport.

"There's nothing better than Friday night lights -walking out of the tunnel, seeing all the fans, just cheering you on," Eppler said.

The Rattlers' quarterback says his football role model is Peyton Manning, noting that neither are the fastest, but they approach the game well mentally.
