ROUND ROCK, TX – In a city north of Austin, four emus escaped from their backyard roost and wandered around a subdivision unchecked. The owner of the flightless birds isn’t sure how they escaped, but authorities had a little trouble rounding them up.

Animal control considers the emus a wild herd and couldn’t capture them. That left the owner of the birds, along with police,  finding volunteers to corral the birds back to their home.

It wasn’t even the Round Rock Police Department’s first rodeo. In April, officers had to track down a buffalo on the loose.

For law enforcement, it’s all in a days work, protecting and serving the people (and animals) of Texas.
