Charges to be filed after man shuts down I-45 to propose to girlfriend

UPDATE - Vidal Nivas, the man who had I-45 shut down so he could propose to his girlfriend will be charged with obstructing a highway. Officials say the offense is Class B misdemeanor and punishable with a fine of up to $2000.


 

HOUSTON - It certainly wasn’t your typical proposal.

A man decided to shut down I-45 near downtown all so he could get down on one knee and propose to his girlfriend.

The whole thing was caught on video, which went viral in no time.

While some people thought the idea was romantic, others weren’t too happy about the traffic jam caused by the highway proposal.

There is some good news, though.

She said yes.
