OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma - Your momma always told you not to let the bed bugs bite.   Unfortunately, it looks like Cleveland Cavaliers player Kyrie Irving has just lost that battle.

The star guard played for only 9 minutes during his team victory against Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday.  He later said he left the game feeling nauseous, blaming it on some bed bug bites he'd gotten at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel, where the team stayed the night before.

"As you can see I got bites at the top of my head, bed bugs… I didn't get any sleep", he said during an interview with Cleveland Cavaliers TV.   "We came to the game and I was freaked out and I started feeling nauseous, a whole bunch of bs, honestly."

We spoke to the hotel and they confirmed there was an isolated area that was infected.

"The infected room is currently quarantined and undergoing an aggressive and intensive, industry approved service", the hotel said in a statement.

This episode raises the question: can we use that excuse if, let say, we just don't want to go to work tomorrow?

"With bed bugs nothing ceases to amaze me", explained George Espinoza Garza, Jr., an exterminator with McGrath Pest Control, "so, I won't say it's impossible, but I yet need to read up on anything or hear anything about bed bugs being related to any kind of ailment, illness or disease."

So, there's certainly plenty of stuff you can say next time you want to take a day off.  But forget the bed bug story, folks: that one has been done.
