Los Angeles, CA - When people die in Tinseltown these days, no one is answering the call at the coroner's office.

Now that the LA coroner has resigned without a replacement, the dead bodies are piling up fast!

In all 180 bodies are now resting in the city morgue waiting to be "serviced" so they can be cleared out.

Apparently, the coroner wasn't happy with the working conditions in LA, since he claimed that he's been asking for more bodies (uh, live ones, that is) to help with the workflow. But all he got was the cold shoulder from the city.

So, he took the plunge and gave his notice.

And while all the bodies are stacking up, toxicology tests are taking more than six months to perform.

In the meantime, everything else is being delayed, too- like funerals, life insurance payouts, and criminal investigations.

That can't be too comforting to families who've lost loved ones during this period.

But hey, whether it's Tinseltown or Timbuktu, one thing remains true: there's great job security in the business of death.
