Companies give paid days off for pet bereavement

Some people feel so strongly about their pets, that if a pet dies, an owner may be so distraught they need time off of work. And some companies are pawing at the idea themselves.

Software company VMWare and Maxwell Health feels compassionate enough to give their employees a flexible amount of days off. Kimpton Hotel managers grant up to three days away from work. And the pet insurance firm, Trupanion, allows for one paid pet bereavement day.

NewsFix wants to know, what exactly constitutes a pet exactly according to these companies? A cat? A dog? A fish? Reptile? What`s about a horse? Or cow? Maybe a pig? And one more thing, how`s an employee going to prove it?
