HOUSTON, TX - Count your lucky shamrocks. The holiday that makes all others "green" with envy is finally here! Happy St. Paddy's Day Houston!

Today, the Irish (and the Irish at heart) celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Although green will be seen all throughout the city today, that won't be the only color represented. According to Tom Horan, who knows all things Irish, he says, "St. Patrick's Day is just a great day for anybody, not just the Irish. It's our way, in a small way to say god bless American."

That's right, the old red, white and blue made this green day what it is today. What began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland, has turned into a global gathering for friends and family to celebrate life. Seeing a lot of green and spending a lot of green too!

The 125 million American's celebrating St. Patrick's Day today will roughly spend $4.4 billion on the holiday. That's a lot of loot, even for a leprechaun. Still, sharing time with friends and family is priceless. And though the bars will be packed today, the biggest thing about this holiday isn't about losing your memory. It's about making new ones. Today in America we're all family. And we thank our lucky charms for that.
