HOUSTON - Shots fired at a north Houston apartment complex caused a car crash late Thursday night.

Around 11 p.m., HPD says three people were in a car, pulling into the Oakridge Apartments. For some reason, someone in the parking lot started shooting at the car, hitting one passenger in the back. The driver put the car in reverse as fast as he could, crashing it into some apartments across the street. Neighbors say this kind of violence has to stop.

"Everybody has a right to drive over here. Everybody has a right to be over here. Everybody has a right to be in safety. This isn't fair, especially for the kids," said neighbor Keisha Thomas.

The passenger who was hit was in stable condition when he went to Ben Taub. As for the suspect who fired those shots, officers say he got away.
