HOUSTON -- Documents read in probable cause court at the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center on Wednesday released disturbing details surrounding the disappearance and death of a 15-year-old girl, who prosecutors say was killed by her teen boyfriend.
Authorities began looking for Karen Perez after she was reported missing on Friday. The search for her came to a tragic end after her body was discovered around 11 p.m. Monday at an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Ave. N.
Tim Miller of Texas Equusearch found the girl's body stuffed underneath a kitchen cabinet in Apt. 206.
The South Houston Police Department confirmed Tuesday that Perez's boyfriend was arrested and charged with murder.
In probable cause court, prosecutors outlined the events leading up to Perez's death and how her body was discovered.
They said the boyfriend texted Perez asking her to skip school with him, and when she told him she could not, he allegedly threatened her in a text reading "skip with me or I'll kill you."
That was the last time any of her friends of family members saw her.
When her family went to the boyfriend's house, he told them he did not know where she was.
The suspect's father told his son, "Let's go find your girlfriend," to which he replied "You won't find her, she is dead," prosecutors say.
The father later went to police and told them he believed his son killed Perez.
Police then questioned another teen boy, who had also skipped with the young couple, and that boy led authorities to the abandoned apartment complex where Perez was found.
Police then went to the boyfriend's home and took him into custody. Prosecutors say investigators took possession of the boyfriend's cellphone, which had video of him sexually assaulting Perez.
Prosecutors say Perez could be heard pleading for her life, and her boyfriend simply replied, "I told you."
