ORLANDO, FL- Police say the man behind the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history is Omar Mateen.

Here`s what we know about him. He was 29 years old, born in New York and a U.S. citizen, though his parents were born in Afghanistan.

As for a motive, Mateen`s father, Mir Seddique told the media, "this has nothing to do with religion" but says his son "got angry when he saw two men kissing a couple of months ago."  So it`s probably no coincidence, he attacked Pulse, which bills itself as the hottest gay bar in Orlando.

According to CNN, before the massacre, Mateen called 9-1-1 and pledged his allegiance to ISIS, but this is not the first time feds have heard his name.  Turns out, the FBI had investigated Mateen and believed he was an ISIS sympathizer... looks like they were right.

As for the guns, Mateen legally purchased a Glock handgun and a long gun in the past few weeks.  Sounds like the same two guns used in the shooting, but officials wouldn`t confirm it.

Mateen lived in Fort Pierce, Florida,  and reportedly rented a car and drove more than 100 miles to Orlando to commit the attacks.  Police and bomb squads spent the day searching his apartment.

Let`s hope this is an isolated attack, but ISIS has urged Muslims to attack Western targets during Ramadan. FYI- Ramadan began last week and doesn`t end until July 5th.
