NORTH PORT, FL - Talk about a major league beat-down!

Alleged burglar Noah Dassat got a lot more than he bargained for when he broke into a North Port home.

Apparently, the 33-year-old crook attacked the dad who lives here with a baseball bat.

But the homeowners fought back and turned the tables on the would-be thief.

The man of the house gave the burglar a bear-hug and held him down while his wife whacked Dassat in the head with the bat!

Yeah, and it gave him quite a shiner, too. Dassat beat a trail out the door but was later busted after he checked into the hospital.

Meanwhile, neighbors are cheering the heroes on the block.

"And what she did and what Jason did was awesome," neighbor Sherri Mitchell reflected. "They protected themselves and the family."

Yeah, luckily that burglar struck out before he even got to the plate!

"It could happen to anyone," Mitchell said. "We should all be prepared and think about this."

Yeah, and Dassat has plenty of time for thinking now that he's sitting in the Charlotte County Jail with no bond.
