Flames tore through a southwest Houston apartment complex late Sunday night, destroying 12 units.

Houston firefighters responded to the Ashford Buena Apartments off Bissonnet and Rampart around 11:30 p.m. By the time they arrived, the two-story building was engulfed.

Everyone who lived in the building got out safely and no one was hurt, but fire crews say flames devoured about two-thirds of the building before they could get the scene under control.

Arson is investigating to figure out how the fire started.
