HOUSTON -- Crazy for cocoa? Well listen up, today might be the sweetest day of the year.
July 7 is World Chocolate Day. The day marks the anniversary of the creation of chocolate more than 400 years ago. But while chocolate was first consumed in Mexico, it was actually refined across the pond. That's the chocolate that many of us know and love.
Co-owner of The Chocolate Bar in Houston, Eric Shamban, says, "It was very bitter. Cause when it comes directly from the cocoa bean, it's very bitter. Then it went to Europe and had some sugar added to it. And somebody said dang, this is good."
So go ahead, grab some chocolate and satisfy your sweet tooth. But let's face it, for those that love the sweet stuff, every day is World Chocolate Day!
