HOUSTON — A man was killed in a fiery crash Monday on the Grand Parkway in Katy, according to investigators.
An eyewitness captured the incident that happened around 10:30 p.m. near Katy Freeway on his cellphone after he attempted to save the victim. Chris Kim posted the dramatic video on Facebook.
Deputies said the vehicle was traveling northbound on Grand Parkway when the driver crossed over into an opposite-going lane and smashed a second vehicle head on.
The first car burst into flames, investigators said.
Kim and another man tried to save the victim — believed to be in his mid-50s — trapped inside, but it was too late. He died at the scene before paramedics arrived, investigators said.
Officers said one adult and three children were in the other car. They were taken to the hospital and are expected to be OK.
