HOUSTON — A drive-by shooting led to a deadly and chaotic chain of events Monday night in east Harris County.

Investigators said two men were working on their car around 8:30 p.m. in the driveway of a house on Kenny Street in the Channelview area when a car drove by and the passengers opened fire on them.

Both men were hit, officers said. One of them died at the scene while the other was taken to the hospital.

Officers said two suspects, a man and woman, sped off from the scene but didn’t get far. Deputies spotted the car and the man was arrested. The woman was sniffed out by a K9 unit moments later.

The suspects identities have not yet been released.

During the arrest, deputies said a canine officer bit the woman in the leg. She was taken to the hospital and must undergo surgery, officers said.

The woman is no being questioned about her involvement in the shooting.

Deputies said officers are also waiting to speak with a wrecker driver, who was shot while attempting to stop the suspects. He also had to undergo surgery, investigators said.
