SUGAR LAND, Texas — A man trying to sell a pair of Air Jordan's on Craigslist didn't get cash — instead he was attacked and had the sneakers snatched from him in a mall bathroom.

The victim said he posted an advertisement on Craigslist for three pairs of Air Jordan sneakers valued at more than $585. He was contacted by a potential buyer August 11 and the two agreed to meet at First Colony Mall later that day, investigators said.

Officers said the men met inside the mall, but the buyer wanted to do the transaction in the parking lot because he said his friend was watching his baby in the car.

Police said as they walked toward the buyer’s grey Nissan, the victim noticed a man was inside the car and no baby. Investigators said he became uneasy and went back inside the mall, but the alleged robber followed him into the restroom, pepper sprayed the victim, hit him twice and then stole his shoes.

Officers said the suspected attacker was last seen casually walking away and then driving off in the Nissan. Police said he was African-American with braided hair and wearing a black bandana, Charlotte Hornets shirt, black sweat pants and a pair of black and white shoes that the victim believed to be Air Jordans. Investigators said he was a little taller than 6 feet.

Police said surveillance video shows the attacker in the mall with the stolen shoes.

Anyone with information in this robbery should call the Sugar Land Police Department at 281-275-2540 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS (8477).
