Happy birthday, Houston! The Bayou City celebrates its 180th year

HOUSTON -Houston was founded by the Allen brothers on August 28, 1836 near the banks of Buffalo Bayou (also known as Allen's Landing) and incorporated as a city on June 5, 1837. The Bayou City,  which is currently the fourth largest city in the country, is turning a 180 years old.
Happy Birthday!
To celebrate, The Heritage Society at Sam Houston Park is having a birthday celebration Sunday.  It will include free museum exhibits, tours of historic homes, actors in costume playing historic figures, games and cake.  The event runs from 1-3 p.m.
