"Well, this is news to me," customer Chad Handley. "And that's going to be me, I guess. I've paid in full, completely in full, and I still got at least two more years to go."

Because removing a tattoo can take a long while, many of Dr. Tattoff's customers prepaid for several sessions up front. Now, after the clinic's abrupt closing, many are left with smudges and missing money.

"I am out of a lot of money, $4500," Handley said. "Hopefully, another tattoo removal clinic may pick us up, but I don't see that happening since we already paid in full to them. So there may be legal action. I don't know what I'm gonna have to do."
