GREENSLOPES, AUSTRALIA — Many pet owners go to extreme lengths to save the lives of their loved pets.

Case in point, a woman in Australia shelled out $500 for a surgery to save her pet goldfish.

Conquer the Goldfish thought a pebble at the bottom of his fish tank was food and somehow got it stuck in his mouth. His owner noticed the fish's behavior had changed, so she took him to the vet. The doctor used a combination of anesthesia and tweezers to pull the pebble free.

Without the operation, Conquer could have easily starved to death. Instead, he's now back home in his tank and doing just fine.

On the other hand, his owner's wallet is a little bit lighter.
