The next time you're with your man in the sack and he screams, “Oh god! Oh god!” it might actually be the beginning of a prayer.

A new study from Duke University discovered that a hormone released during sex will give a boost to spirituality and make middle aged men more likely to believe in God.

Oxytocin is a chemical your brain releases and it’s thought to be responsible for love and attraction, but also helps with child birth, social interactions, and even lactation.

But the study showed that when this 'hug hormone' was given to the participants, it created a more powerful and long lasting spiritual experience after a meditation session - even if the subject wasn't a believer.

And while the results are surprising, some are not shocked to hear the mattress tango gives divine results.

“For a long time, both religion and sex have often times gone together. A lot of religions have used sex as a way of establishing different norms for cultures and one could definitely see the connection between different forms of missionary work if you will,” Houston resident Chris noted.

However, this “cuddle chemical” affects men and women differently. Sorry ladies, no word yet on whether or not you can feel holy when you're getting horny.

So next time your husband tries to, ya know, bow chicka wow wow- he`s probably just thinking sexiness is next to godliness.
