ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. - Ladies, can you imagine your gynecologist leaving a two-inch metal tool inside you after a routine uterus exam?
Well, that's exactly what happened to Michelle Doig-Collins in southern California!
"It was the most excruciating pain," she declared. "That instrument was in me 11 weeks."
After she had returned to her OB-GYN three different times to report her constant pain, "I was just feeling like horrible. I was nauseous. I had major cramping."
She and her husband remember the day they discovered the medical blunder.
"I wiped, and the toilet paper got caught onto something, and with your finger you could feel there was a metal probe. What the Hell is that?! And I just screamed for my husband," Doig-Collins recalled.
Her husband said, "She's like, 'There's something inside me.' I'm like, 'What do you mean there's something inside you?' She's like, "Well down here. Look.' Okay, we're going to the ER."
X-rays showed that she had the tip of an 'acorn'-like probing device stuck inside her body!
Now the patient is suing her doctor, who had been her gynecologist for 10 years.
"When the probe was removed, the end of it was not there," family attorney Jeffrey Greenman insisted. "How does this facility miss that?"
"You know, it's 2016," Doig-Collins remarked. "How did you leave a tool that size in somebody?"
That's a good question, and one a jury will get to probe in court!
