HOUSTON — Move over Elsa, and make way for Supergirl! Princesses are out, and superheroes are in!

According to research from the National Retail Federation, princess costumes have fallen to number two after eleven years at the top spot.

Little girls are choosing to dress up as heroes such as Supergirl, Black Widow and even Harley Quinn.

Not surprising, after a year dominated by comic book story lines and void of fairy tales.

It must be more appealing to be a hero, rather than a damsel in distress.

So as trick-or-treaters show up on your doorstep this Halloween, don’t be surprised if you see a lot of little girls rocking capes!
