Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

NATIONWIDE- Saturday, October 22 local police teamed up with the Drug Enforcement Administration for the 12th Annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.  Folks were able to get rid of their unused/ unwanted prescription medications at one of eight collection sites in the Greater Houston area.

Last April, the DEA collected 40,000 lbs. of unused and unwanted prescription drugs- just in Houston. Nationwide they collected 447 tons of prescription drugs- that's almost 900,000 lbs. of pills and unwanted medications.
