LA PORTE, Texas — A fight between several male students Wednesday at La Porte High School has become the subject of a police investigation.
Investigators said two 16-year-old and a 15-year-old student attacked their 15-year-old schoolmate around 1 p.m. During the fight, a third 15-year-old jumped in to help fight off the three aggressors but was outmatched. School police detained all five students until the two man assailants were released to their respective parents, officers said.
One student was injured, the school said.
The teens who started the fight were charged with class A assault, investigators said. The 15-year-old who came to the student's rescue may also face assault charges because investigators said he was overly aggressive and tried to keep the fight going.
After initial response by school administrators and school resource officers, the investigation was refered to the La Porte Police Department.
La Porte High School administrators released a statement saying, "We have increased the presence of administrators and school resource officers at La Porte High School and, as is our practice, are reviewing policies, practices and procedures to try to determine how events such as this may be prevented.
